When in doubt, who ya gonna call - Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy. Yes we have written a MOTD freeware app that's only 24 kb and works on all Windows Environments with no dependancy on .FISHNET. As always download it from http://www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au/CAD_TSUtils.htm LOGONMSG is a Message of the Day (MOTD)/ system Disclaimer application that displays a "message of the day" that can appear when users log on to their windows based system. LOGONMsg is a stand alone application that requires not 3rd party tools or addins. When launched, LOGONMSG will display the provided message of the day/ system disclaimer, obtained via a customised .ini file. The application will display the message in an 'Always on top' dialog box that fills the entire client's screen, no matter what size, and cannot be moved, minimised or closed through conventional ways. It also provides two buttons that user can select. The first button allows the user to accept the message/ policy, which will simply close the window and allow the users to continue working in their normal environment. The second button is allow the user to decline the message/ policy, which will in turn completely log the user off and return them to the logon screen, or in the case of a Terminal Server environment, will log them out of the session cleanly. The text message and the accompanying buttons can be fully customised using a personalised .ini file included in the syntax of this application. To display LOGONMsg when a users logs on to a Windows based system, the following methods can be used to include the syntax of the application: 1. Chain or call it from an existing logon script. 2. Add it as a Logon Script in a Group Policy Object. 3. Add it to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key on all computers. Usage: ====== LOGONMSG.EXE [<ini filename>] [/?] <ini filename> -- specifies location of ini file to use. When using this option, the .ini file will contain the text of the Accept Button, the Decline Button and the Message itself. Not using the .ini file will result in a generic message being displayed. /? -- generates this usage message. The location of the ini file can be a local source, network share. or environment path. E.G. LOGONMSG.EXE c:\\windows\\LOGONMSG.ini -- Local ini file. LOGONMSG.EXE \\\\servername\\share\\LOGONMSG.ini -- remote ini file. LOGONMSG.EXE %temp%\\LOGONMSG.ini -- environment ini file. The ini file syntax can be found in the sample LOGONMSG.ini included with this program package. The ini file can be created using the options section of LOGONMSG. Structure of the ini file: ========================= <example.ini> ;LOGONMSG ini file [Accept] ;The words that appear on the Accept button AButton=I Accept and agree to this Policy [Decline] ;The words that appear on the Decline button DButton=The Do Not Accept and agree to this Policy [MainMSG] ;The words that appear in the Text box for the message of the day or disclaimer Msg=Access and use of this company's system is conditional upon your acceptance and compliance with the terms, conditions, notices and disclaimers published by this Company.
