Something I wonder - if you automate outlook starting through COM
automation, I wonder if it displays the splash screen then?

Over the next few days, I'll probably be writing / amending outlook to
start in this way (a step to making it difficult to attempt to start
outlook twice through a custom interface) - so if / when I find out,
I'll let you know.

From memory, other office apps don't seem to display splash screens when
automating that way - 'cos you explicitly state when the app should be
visible.
