SYMPTOMS
When users log on from a terminal session, Userinit.exe may stop working.
Users may also receive the following error message that refers to
USERINIT.EXE in the window title bar in the Terminal Services client
session:

Application Error: The instruction at "0x77f8fe43" referenced memory at
"0x00c50000". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the
program.
You may also receive the following event message in the system event log on
the terminal server:Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Date: MM/DD/YYYY
Time: 6:52:31 AM
User: N/A
Computer: computername
Description:
Application popup: userinit.exe - Application Error : The instruction at
"0x77f8fe43" referenced memory at "0x00c50000". The memory could not be
"read". Click on OK to terminate the program
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to
computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive
additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this
problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000
service pack that contains this fix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are
listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are
listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file
information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between
UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in
Control Panel.
