CTX104239 - How to determine if connection to a data store has failed for a
Metaframe server

Document ID: CTX104239, Created on: Jun 23, 2004, Updated: Jun 23, 2004

Products: Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000

Symptom

Inconsistent data appears in the Management Console and the administrator is
not sure whether or not a particular MetaFrame XP server is communicating
with the data store. The IMA Service is running but the administrator needs
to know if the local host cache (LHC) is, in fact, being periodically
updated by the data store. The default polling time is 30 minutes.

Solution

To determine if a server is communicating regularly with the data store,
check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CITRIX\IMA\DataStoreFailureTime

If the value is all zeros, the MetaFrame server is communicating with the
data store.

If the value is not all zeros, there is a failure of communication and the
local host cache is not being updated.
