There is a registry setting that controls how long Windows will wait before
a dialog times out. I had a customer that had set this value really low and
had the problem you describe. I can't find it, but there is a value.

Subject: [THIN] Idle Logon Screen

Hi All

Some of my users are complaining that the Windows logon-screen
disappears too fast after connecting to the Terminal Server. Is there
any way to increase that value? Couldn't find anything on MS Site or
Registry...
