Hi Adam,

My response to Mark yesterday about the his GINA question was one of those,
"did I send that?" answers, where I missed the point of the question.

GinaDLL defines the primary GINA (Graphical Identification and Authentication)
that handles logins. ctxGinaDLL defines the next GINA chained by the Citrix
GINA. If you've got the Notes client installed, with single notes logon, then
the msgina.dll entry gets replaced by ngina.dll. However ngina.dll still chains
to msgina.dll so what you've got is fine.

If the ctxGinaDLL entry is changed back to msgina.dll, then the Notes single
logon feature will be disabled.

I believe the ngina.dll isn't used anymore with Notes client version 5.0.12 and
later.

regards,

Rick

I notice that I have two gina entries in the registry:

GinaDLL = ctxgina.dll
ctxGinaDLL = ngina.dll

I am guessing that these are chained gina files. I think ngina.dll comes
from Lotus Notes when you use the single sign-on service. Not sure though.

I agree - it is not something I would change just for the sake of it.
One sort of assumes that Citrix has got this right and as such may make
some assumptions about being first in the list. To follow on from
Steve's point - yes, it has worked perfectly (but test, test, and test
again).

That said it looks like I'm going to have to change the order on my main
farm in a few weeks time !!! .

Regards,

Alan.

 Ginadll
I have hacked this too to work with multiple authtentication systems
simulatneoulsy and it worked perfectly. As a general rule I would stick
with
CTX first, but it doesn't hurt to change the order or try other
variations,
sometimes it is the difference between being able to do certain things
or
not...

Just to "muddy" the waters a little - I have in the past changed the
order
in which the Gina's are processed (Novell (contextless)/nFuse/getAccess
environment) such that a "pass-through"
type authentication takes place. I assume this only works because we're
not
using any of the so-called "advanced features".

Regards,

Alan.

Another thing to consider is that you can string the GINA's so that they
pass unsupported calls onto the next one. In light of this you probably
want
the Citrix one first and then either MS or Novell next and then
application
specific ones last....

Brian has some info on his website about it. It seems you can use the
Microsoft GINA but you lose some features.

Metaframe requires their GINA for certain functions/features. Having
said
that though I have seen it work with other third party gina files that
get
substituted upon installation. You can simply change it and see what
happens, if you can't get back in you can do a remote registry edit to
set
it back.

If you have no reason to change it, leave it alone, Citrix has perfected
this subsystem and it is very reliable...

Subject: [THIN] Gina files

HI All,

I noticed that under
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WIndowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon, the gina
being
used it ctxgina.dll and ngina.dll (possible my Lotus notes single
signon).
Is there any harm in forcing the system to use msgina.dll? (Other than
disabling my Notes single signon).
