I notice that I have two gina entries in the registry: GinaDLL = ctxgina.dll ctxGinaDLL = ngina.dll I am guessing that these are chained gina files. I think ngina.dll comes from Lotus Notes when you use the single sign-on service. Not sure though. adam |---------+------------------------------------> | | "Hutchinson, Alan" | | | <Alan.Hutchinson@southamp| | | ton.gov.uk> | | | Sent by: | | | thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx| | | | | | | | | 12/29/2004 08:01 AM | | | Please respond to thin | | | | |---------+------------------------------------> >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: <thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> | | cc: | | Subject: [THIN] Re: Gina files | >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| I agree - it is not something I would change just for the sake of it. One sort of assumes that Citrix has got this right and as such may make some assumptions about being first in the list. To follow on from Steve's point - yes, it has worked perfectly (but test, test, and test again). That said it looks like I'm going to have to change the order on my main farm in a few weeks time !!! . As a general rule I would stick with CTX first, but it doesn't hurt to change the order or try other variations, sometimes it is the difference between being able to do certain things or not... I assume this only works because we're not using any of the so-called "advanced features". In light of this you probably want the Citrix one first and then either MS or Novell next and then application specific ones last.... Steve Greenberg Thin Client Computing 34522 N. It seems you can use the Microsoft GINA but you lose some features. http://www.brianmadden.com/content/content.asp?ID=236 Matthew Shrewsbury, MCSE+Internet MCSE 2000 CCA -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Greenberg Sent: Tuesday, December 28, 2004 6:38 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Gina files Metaframe requires their GINA for certain functions/features. Having said that though I have seen it work with other third party gina files that get substituted upon installation. You can simply change it and see what happens, if you can't get back in you can do a remote registry edit to set it back. If you have no reason to change it, leave it alone, Citrix has perfected this subsystem and it is very reliable... Steve Greenberg Thin Client Computing 34522 N. Is there any harm in forcing the system to use msgina.dll?
