[THIN] Fw: Re: IBM blades for Citrix vs. HP DL360?

I'm speaking from an Integrators point of view. System Admin may be
different. From an overall management point of view...it probably makes no
difference. And HP SIM is very nice indeed. I've always been a fan.
Director does the same stuff...just differently.

I guess that from a new deployment point of view from when you first unpack
them to a point when you have an OS on the first blade, I just prefer the
IBM's. Everything you need is in the box and the remote control stuff is
good.

From the HP point of view, I found this to be quite the opposite. I found
the Java console for the Advanced iLO very frustrating. I got an e-mail
from HP back in Feb saying that it was a know issue with no resolution
date. It could take up to 10 minutes to get the mice synchronised. But if M
says that it's been addressed, then that's great.

As I said, it just depends on how you work, and what your preference is.

From a Citrix point of view, you also need to understand the bigger picture
as the alliance between IBM, VMware and Citrix grows, and where they are
going with Virtualisation. Sure...I bet HP will go there too, but which
hardware vendor will be the main player and come up with a better overall
strategy? Of course I'm setting myself up here to see who bites :) Probably
Jim in his underware.

Before making the investment, I urge you to go and take a look at both
systems running at your local HP and IBM offices. You can then compare the
features, see the remote management working, etc. Not meaning to harp on
about Remote Management. But that sort of stuff is important to me.

             "M"
             <mathras@blueyond
