The behavior of the Web Client in Web Interface 4.5 is different than in previous versions. As you can see below, I'm not sure I want to upgrade to WI 4.5. If you have some ideas on how to improve the client deployment process, let me know. WI 4.5 was written for ICA Client 10.0, which is not available yet. 9.2 does work but only for one language. Note that the path of the client on the WI server is different. There is a webclient.exe in version 10.0 but I haven't figured out how to get WI to send that client instead of ica32pkg.msi when using the automatic update feature. Path to the Citrix Web Clients Web Interface 4.0 = C:\Program Files\Citrix\Web Interface\4.0\ICAWEB\en\ica32 Different folders for each language Web Interface 4.5 = C:\Program Files\Citrix\Web Interface\4.5\Clients\ica32 All languages are included in ica32pkg.msi version 10.0 so no language specific client is needed Auto-deployed Client When you enable the option to automatically push the ICA client, it pushes a different client depending on the version 4.0 = wficat.cab (2.5 MB, this is an ActiveX control web client with minimal user interaction) 4.5 = ica32pkg.msi (5 MB, this is the full Citrix client where users have to answer a bunch of questions when installing) This is a huge change. Ica32pkg.msi is a larger client and requires Microsoft Installer. This client can be pre-configured to install the Web Client only. When this client is pre-configured with an admin install, the size of the client grows to 9 MB. Installation Caption If Web Interface does not detect that a client is installed, a link is provided in the bottom-right that users can click on to install the client. This is different too. 4.0 = ica32t.exe (2.5 MB client, no installation questions) 4.5 = ica32pkg.msi (5 MB, this is the full Citrix client where users have to answer a bunch of questions when installing) This is a huge change. Ica32pkg.msi is a larger client and requires Microsoft Installer. This client can be pre-configured to install the Web Client only. When this client is pre-configured with an admin install, the size of the client grows to 9 MB. Recommendation The default client pushed to the user is ica32pkg.msi. This client asks too many questions when a user tries to install it. To workaround that problem, run msiexec /a ica32pkg.msi create a pre-configured .msi file that only installs the Web Client. The size of the client will increase to 9 MB.
