I did a similar install and had some problems as well - my error was solved by booting from a Compaq array config disk and making sure that there were no problems with the arrays and made sure that atleast one array existed. I deleted existing arrays and created new ones. After that the Win2k3 install went smoothly. Justin -----Original Message----- From: David E. I actually did an install of Windows 2000 Server using the assisted install (w/ Smart Start 5.40), and am going to upgrade it to Windows 2003 w/ MF FR3. I haven't tried an install using the latest Smart Start 6.40, because it says it only supports the newer ML, DL, & BL lines of Proliants. I'll post a resolution if I can figure it out. HP does have some Proliant install and upgrade guides for Win2003 on their site at: http://h18001.www1.hp.com/partners/microsoft/windowsserver2003/support.html The PDF's there have some helpful step by steps with links to utilities and drivers. -dave -----Original Message----- From: Dave Nelson [mailto:David.Nelson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Sat 9/6/2003 4:55 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Subject: [THIN] Re: Compaq Drive Array - Windows Server 2003 Are you sure they're not included with Windows 2003 already? I did an installation with a 3200 controller and that was already on the CD. David J. Rather than using the Smart Start disk to do an assisted installation, we like to do a manual installation, where we boot off of the Windows Server 2003 disk and load the drivers ourselves. When the install kicks off, we hit F6 to load mass storage drivers. At this point, we need the Smart Array drivers on a floppy disk in order to load them. The driver files must contain a txtseteup.oem file for Windows setup to recognize it and install it. If we don't load the driver at this point, after the first reboot, Windows won't be able to load because it doesn't have a driver installed for the disk array. The problem with the current Smart Array drivers is that they don't have a txtsetup.oem file anymore. Are we forced to use the Smart Start assisted setup in order to load Windows now? -dave -----O riginal Message----- From: Adam.Baum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx [ mailto:Adam.Baum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Fri 9/5/2003 6:45 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Subject: [THIN] Re: Compaq Drive Array - Windows Server 2003 Can yoy be a bit more specific?
