The streaming aspect is what creates a profile which is then run from a
network share. The application isolation features are related to
virtualizing file, registry and application objects. They go together but
are separate features sets. The streaming part allows the same package
(profile) to be run from any PS server, the isolation stuff avoids conflicts
and lets you feed the app whatever environment is needs to run properly.

Isolation features does reduce the need for silos, but that has to be looked
at on a case by case basis since there are a lot of factors and reasons why
you might silo. I think you will really 4.5 and find that in this way, and
many others, it improves the situation. Be sure to check our CPU and MEM
optimization.

The apps that Citrix lists have been tested, most others will work fine....

Steve

You mention the Application Hubin 4.5, Im evaluating 4.5 at the moment.

But the documentation on the streaming sayes to create a profile and
store it on a file server

Im I missing something here ?

Also if we havent needed silos with our XP environment does that meen
std installs hould be ok.

I know there a ctx article that says that office and SAP are supported
in AIE

I take it this just meens citrx supports these apps not necessarly that
they must be installed in AIE.

Thanks

Ron

Jeff are you still seeing startup delays with the new Application Hub
(streaming) feature? It looks to me like the improved that a lot in
4.5.....

yes the new one is better but as with any product like this you will see
overhead resource wise.

As to your question of appstream vs standard AIE, it's toss up and
really only you can answer that question. It will really depend on what
your looking for. For instance, streaming is a great way to collapse
and eliminate silo's. but it will take a bit longer for applications to
start.
