You can still choose where you dump the files. My docs, someone on the
network, etc.

Ya that is the unacceptable workaround I was referring to. Also, the
PDF are dumped into one location. This does not bode well for companies
that have higher security requirements.

You'd think that a company like Adobe could get their act together. Oh
well.

Login to the console as an administrator. It's necessary so distiller
can run. This is required under 5.0 and I'm guessing it is under 6.0.
If you do this, it will work, but how well it works will be
undetermined. Everyones circumstances are different.

I tried PDF995, but a particular program I need to print to PDF, does
not work with it, so I'm relying on Adobe Acrobat.

The Adobe PDF Writer doesn't work well under TS. There are work arounds
but I consider them to be unacceptable.

Look into using pdf995 from www.pdf995.com

Hijacking this thread and making segue into my own. (Changed the title
to be less confusing) ... ;-)

We have some 1u servers here, with Adobe Professional 6.0. When printing
to the PDFWriter printer, I get the error that there was an error
printing to My Documents\*.pdf.

I thought perhaps there were two possibilities this was happening:

1. These are 1u rack mount boxes, with no printer (LPT) ports. I thought
I remembered hearing something about Adobe PDFWriter needing to see
LPT1?

2. I have a folder redirection policy for My Documents onto another
server to centralize profiles. In the My Documents directory on the
other server I can read/write/delete as the user... so it does not
appear to be permissions. I also noticed that I get the same error as
Administrator... who isn't being redirected.

Any thoughts?

TIA,
Ryan

6 is working OK under TS here. It is bigger, meaning more features that
you will never use, than 5.

You can disable many of the features after install, especially the
splash and check for updates. Disabling font smoothing probably makes
sense also, since you are likely limiting screen resolution anyway.

I have some older NT Terminal Servers in my Farm running Acrobat Reader
4.05 on 1.8 FR3, and was hoping to avoid updating but I now I need to.
Will version 6 work safely or is version 5 a better bet?
