Upper winds are becoming more favorable for trans-Gulf migration (i.e. stronger from the S at Brownsville and Corpus Christi and SSW at Lake Charles and New Orleans). NEXRAD imagery shows numerous flocks of soaring/gliding birds and coastal movement of probable gulls, terns, shorebirds, and waders moving coastwise due northward from Brownsville to Corpus north of which bird returns turn northeastward. No songbird trans- nor circum-gulf migration is evident at this early afternoon time. A cold front accompanied by a thin squall line is due to move southeastward to the coast tomorrow. It will likely have a brief impact on trans-Gulf migrants mostly on Friday (Texas) and Saturday (Louisiana). John C.
