Good morning to All! We still have some ducks lingering at north pond, including 2 Lesser Scaups, about 5 Blue-winged Teals, and even 1 Redhead duck happily swimming around! There's a few Wilson's Phalaropes hanging around and we still have a few Fulvous Whistling Ducks as well. I also spotted a Black-bellied Whistling Duck with baby ducks, such beauties! 2 Mottled Ducks are at North Pond as well, and one of them seems to be getting a bit close to a domesticated duck we have hanging around that probably came from the city park, I see them together a lot...we've got some funny business going on there! As far as other species, we have Buff-bellied Hummingbirds out and about, and a few Ruby-throats. A Black-chinned Hummingbird can still be seen at it's usual perch post out by South pond as well. Many birds are singing away, such as the Northern Cardinal, Northern Mocking Bird, and of course our good old friends the Plain Chachalacas, who never seem to fail at startling me as they communicate while I walk along the grounds! Good stuff, good stuff... Have a great day! Monica Barrera Interpretive Naturalist Edinburg Scenic Wetlands & World Birding Center P.O.
