I had the privilege of birding a private ranch in the Laredo CBC circle on the
count today. The lake had a stunning assortment of waterbirds including two
Red-breasted Mergansers, a Long-tailed Duck, Surf Scoter, and White-winged
Scoter among the more expected suspects. A Tropical Kingbird was singing near
the residence.
The singular highlight of the CBC was the AMAZON KINGFISHER which was spotted
at Dos Laredos park. Only through persistence of those assigned the river
sector was the bird located mid afternoon.
