Dry wherever I went, along 1941, Fairview, Skillern Tract, Smith Oaks, other High Island sites. No birds. Very windy, gusty. Oh, I did see clusters of whimbrel along a north field on 1941 close to 124. Eastern Kingbirds here and there. There was a grand total of one yellow rumped in Smith Oaks and four or five common grackles. Nice to see the nesting egrets, cormorants and spoonbills at rookery, the only action ongoing. Garrett Road off beltway 8 (east of Houston) had golden plovers and a few upland sandpipers with them. I hope whoever stayed through until evening found conditions better.
