It was a nice day. just not as calm as I had hoped for. I also was hoping
that some warbler species would be present but they were tough to locate.
Yellow Warbler being the only one I could locate. We are now entering the
time of year when most of the migrant sparrows and shorebird have left as
well as most of the ducks. That leaves us with the area breeding birds
being about all you see. I did find 4 late Ruddy Ducks off the end of F
pad as well as a few Blue-winged Teal. There is a pair of Red-headed
Woodpeckers that have a nest tree near the photo blind on Harris Creek
Trail. There are a lot of Cliff Swallows nesting under the bridge on
Bennett Ln. near the Big Mineral Picnic area. I finished the day with 62
species.
