I arrived at Sabine Woods about 8:30AM today and started seeing the Tropical Mockingbird within about 45 minutes. I stayed for almost three hours and saw the bird many times. I saw it most frequently in the trees straight across the clearing from the shelter. Saw it one time perched on one of the benches just inside the front gate. Also saw it several times on the south side of the clearing (the clearing with the large, leafless tree that is reached by a short trail leading to the right just inside the front gate). I was able to get some decent photos. You can see the photos at: http://www.pbase.com/brucesherman/image/143555235 http://www.pbase.com/brucesherman/image/143555237 The badly worn retrices are clearly visible on both photos, especially so on the first photo. I don't recall seeing any photos of the bird in a position where the worn tips would have been so conspicuous. Am I interpreting these worn tips - as a sign that the bird was most likely caged at some time - correctly? Bruce ShermanRockport, TX
