Please start sending your posts to texbirds@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Hi Texbirds, I haven't been receiving Texbirds posts, last time was Tuesday, so I'm reading Texbirds online. I wanted to reply to John's post offline, but email addresses are not published in the Texbirds archives and I don't know John's address, so I've cut/pasted John's note here so I could reply to him: ///For several weeks now I have occasionally seen an adult Broad-winged Hawk in my neighborhood (W. 29th and Woolridge above Shoal Creek) that doesn't behave like a migrant. I saw one again this morning and I think the season is sufficiently advanced that I can considered the possibility that it is summering bird. A few years ago a pair nested about a half mile from here. Also I have been hearing and seeing a pair of American Robins a bit south of there (Harris Blvd. just north of Windsor Road. Yesterday I saw a single bird in addition to the pair that surely seems to be breeding. The habitat is perfect (lush, well-watered lawns, large hardwoods, etc.). I wonder where they have been up until now. jca John C. Arvin Austin /// John, in case you have interest, my son has seen a Broad-winged Hawk near his house recently as well. He is near E. 42nd and Speedway, not all that far from you. Also, he showed me photos of an American Robin parent feeding its fledge in the tree in their front yard.
