Had wonderful looks this morning at the ruff. It was still at the
boardwalk .25 miles past the visitor center. The ruff was about 30 feet
out from the right end of the boardwalk. Other birds seen included
solitary sandpiper, Wilson's phalaropes (several in breeding colors),
mottled duck, stilt sandpiper, white-faced ibis and black-necked stilt. On
our way out of the refuge heading toward High Island, we saw on FM1985 10
upland sandpipers in a field on the right side of the road and about 100
buff-breasted sandpipers across the road in a field.
