[texbirds] Rio Grande Valley Birding

Lynn and I have put photos from a Holiday trip to the Rio Grande Valley at
the link below.

We failed to see the American Woodcock at the National Butterfly Center but
did have good birds and a beautiful Mexican Silverspot (photo).


No Amazon Kingfisher for us but did have both Green Kingfisher and Belted
on the trip.  Both Harris’s Hawk and a beautiful Grey Hawk were seen at
Santa Ana.


We had two White-tailed Kites and a Eastern Screech Owl at Estero Llano
Grande and a Blomfild’s Beauty Butterfly (photo) on the way out.


There were three White-tailed Hawks near Anzalduas.


A good trip with over a hundred species including a Tropical Parula at the
Sarita rest stop on Hwy 77.
