Hi there, a few migrants are starting to trickle in. This morning, just after sunrise, I had a Bell's Vireo in with a small flock of Yellow Warblers and Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers. It was in the large oak (the "glory oak") on the southern edge of O'Connor Field (which borders the south side of Rice Blvd) and on the NW corner of the swimming pool/basketball court of the Rice Wellness Center (there's music blasting out from the basketball court, so you'll know you're in the right place). The vireo was very actively flitting around, flicking its wings and tail.. It sang once, but with a very low amplitude, barely audible over the music. I came back around 830 am and the small flock of birds had left the Glory Oak. A small flock of warblers (same group?) was along Rice Blvd, but I was not able to refind the vireo. Sometimes these fall birds stick around for a couple days. best C-T Lee Houston Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
