Five of us are going down to the Valley later this week, and I have a
few questions that I hope can be answered by local birders or birders
who have been there recently. I have looked at ebird and Texbird
posts.

1) Looking for Aplomado Falcon, I know that Old Port Isabel Road is
the classic location, but if anyone has recent information on sections
of the road where the birds have been seen recently, and whether the
road can be driven safely, that would be most helpful.

2) Hook-billed Kite has been sighted along the Rio Grande east of
Bentsen State Park on ebird, last on November 17. Does anyone have
advice on strategies to look for this bird? Is a boat trip necessary
or does one drive along near the river and hope for the best?

3) Any sightings of Red-billed Pigeon or Muscovy Duck near Salineno? I
don't see any in ebird.

5) Any recent sightings of Black-tailed Gnatcatcher at Falcon Heights,
Falcon State Park? I only see ebird sightings through Nov 8.

6) Does anyone have any interesting sightings or suggest birding at
the Las Palomas WMA Prieta unit, which abuts the Rio Grande near
Roma?

Thanks for your help.
