Trolled some big tree neighborhoods in Pt. Lavaca listening for
Yellow-green Vireos despite a gentle sprinkle...Dipped on those., but had a
HO Kiskadee, 5 Brown-crested Flycatchers and a Parula on Willowick that I
sure wish I had gotten my eyes on. Also several Couch's Kbs. Birded about
half way down 316 The Purple Gallinues were present with one having two
chicks along in a ditch along the hiway.. Four Fulvous Whistling Ducks and
Cave Swallows were nice. At Alamo Beach I scanned Snake Is. hoping for
the Flamingos in Lavaca Bay but instead found a Red-breasted Merganser!
The island still had lots of birds on it
At Colomo Creek there was a single Wood Stork with about 18 spoonbills.
Roamed around in Port O'Connor but all I found of interest to me were a
pair of Couch's Kingbirds and Brown-creasted Flycatchers. A pond on the
north side off Monroe had 7 Blk-crowned Night-Herons. 11 frigatebirds were
noted flying ahead of a strong thunderstorm.
