Hi, all!

Today road-birded Old Port Isabel Road, which was in great shape, despite
the rains around the Valley! While that pond on the left side (going
north) was dry, the usual suspects were out there: a pair of Aplomado Falcons,
both Cassin's and Botteri's Sparrows, Cactus and Bewick's Wrens, a couple of
Long-billed Curlews, and a nice family of Harris' Hawks. At one point the
telephone wires were lined with more Common Nighthawks than I've ever seen
at once, and several posed on posts! Big misses included both White-tailed
Hawk and Caracara! While stopped at the canal near the north end a Black
Skimmer powered by, which was new for my OPIR list.

Swung over to Hwy 48, where highlights included a single Reddish Egret in
the sun at the southbound pullout, along with a distant Wood Stork and
Roseate Spoonbill, plus the usual gulls and terns. The Oystercatcher pair was
at the boat ramp, along with several Wilson's Plovers and a Semipalmated.
Tried to impress a local fisherman with what a treasure trove he has here in
the Valley (he was impressed with the Oystercatcher) and had no idea there
was anything there but "seagulls"! :-)

Hiked the trails at Palo Alto Battlefield after that, with more Botteri's
and Cassin's Sparrows; got more exercise than anything else...
