Texbirders: Harvey Laas and I went looking for nutnatches in NE Waller County this morning and hit the trifecta. In one clump of loblolly pines with nearby live oaks on Oak Hollow Blvd we had Brown-headed, Red-breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches In total we had three or four of each species in the same neighborhood seen and heard. White-breasted Nuthatch has no previous ebird reports in Waller County (although Ron Weeks had one last year). The other two Nuthatches each had only been reported once previously in Waller County. This paucity is likely only because people haven't been search the piney woods part of the county much. Seems like an excellent time to check your local piney patch for nuthatches (if you haven't already). John Berner West Houston/Katy
