Today, I am a weep magnet. I will explain: This morning I was eating breakfast and went out to look at a warbler. Then, two Blue-headed Vireos were in a tree hanging over the fence with the house behind. And in the top and back of that tree was a Great Crested Flycatcher. Fast forward to Nalle Bunny Run Preserve (west of the 360 bridge). In the parking lot at the beginning of the walk (led by Mikael Behrens), a Great Crested Flycatcher with a pair of Summer Tanagers. Also seen were 5 Lark Sparrows (two that flushed up not far from the parking lot and three in the sandy area by the lakeshore. An American Coot perched on a tree branch was a funny site, a Canyon Wren sung, and an Eastern Phoebe phoebed. A Common Yellowthroat was in a bush under oak and juniper trees. We also flushed a Great Horned Owl. Bird of the walk would be an Eastern Wood-Pewee that allowed for good views (and photos). I decided to stop by Bull Creek District Park on my way home. Among the singing Yellow-rumped Warblers, Barn Swallows resting on the creek side, and a Green Heron I flushed that had his hair on end. By the smaller parking lot (south of the creek), a Great Crested Flycatcher was weeping and making another call from the top of a tall tree. I got a glimpse. Still Golden-fronted Woodpeckers above the parking area.
