Mark your calendars for February 18 and 19, 2017, when Palacios will host the 
first ever Matagorda Bay BirdFest to connect people, birds and nature.

This birding festival will feature a wide variety of activities to interest 
people of all ages—from kids’ art projects and Parade of Birds (featuring 
free cookies at the end of the parade) to lectures from regional experts and 
birding and kayak tours for adults.  

Birding tours include trips to The Nature Conservancy’s Clive Runnels Mad 
Marsh Island Preserve, the Matagorda County Birding Nature Center, Oyster Lake 
and the Matagorda Beach Jetty Park. The tours have limited space and require 
registration.
