I had a chance to stop by Lake Kirby in Abilene this afternoon as I am in town on business. I'm not sure of the status of a few of the species seen for this region so I will list all of the water related species. All species were seen on the SW end of the lake along the dirt tracks Common Tern - 1 adult (still had the alternate plumage orange/red bill but also had the black carpal bar of winter plumage) Black Tern - 6 Willet - 1 Sanderling - 4 Buff-breasted Sandpiper - 1 Greater Yellowlegs - 10+ Lesser Yellowlegs - 5 American Avocet - 20+ Black-necked Stilt 30+ Western Sandpiper - 20+ Semipalmated Sandpiper - 30+ Baird's Sandpiper - 4 Least Sandpiper - 100+ Wilson's Phalarope - 3 Stilt Sandpiper - 50+ Semipalmated Plover - 6 If any regional editors, etc. need any further details please contact me personally.
