[texbirds] High Island Rookery 2/7/2013

Spring is on the way in the Rookery some Great Egrets and Spoonbills are 
hanging around during the day and ofcourse there are lots of Neotropic 
Cormorants. As you can see by the numbers beloe many birds are coming in for 
the night.

Comments:     Counting birds coming into the Rookery in Claybottom Pond. Also 
counted birds roosting in Shorebird Pond west of Claybottom.

Great Egret  230     this is a roosting and breeding site
Snowy Egret  215     this is a roosting and breeding site
Little Blue Heron  8

Black-crowned Night-Heron  68     46 adults 20 immature
White Ibis  4
Roseate Spoonbill  23     birds were sitting around pond before sunset but all 
left by sunset this is usual prebreeding behavior.

Red-tailed Hawk  2
Common Gallinule  5
Mourning Dove  4
Eastern Phoebe  1
Blue Jay  1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet  1
