Yes the Harris's hawks were still there today but did not show up until around 2:15-2:30 this afternoon and then the light was all wrong for pictures. They were in the woods on the right on the other side of the causeway as you drive in and on the far side of the power lines. The clumps of woods around there were very busy with Red-breasted Nuthatches, both Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Am Goldfinches, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Pine Warblers and a Brown Creeper. Down at the lagoon there were lots of Am White Pelicans, Am Avocets, Short-billed Dowitchers (I think), Green-winged Teal, Ruddy Ducks, Lesser Scaup and a few Northern Shovelers. We also found one each American Pipit and Marsh Wren down at the very end of the point by the circular turnaround. On the way home we went by and checked on the Baytown Bald Eagles and they were both sitting in a pine tree close to the old nest site. Another birder said right before we got there another juvenile bird had also been there. Pictures here including 2 of the wet Harris's Hawks from yesterday. _http://hansonnaturephotography.smugmug.com/Nature/Texas-Birds/17293655_vKBN QB#!i=2234679566&k=WRVddxW_ (http://hansonnaturephotography.smugmug.com/Nature/Texas-Birds/17293655_vKBNQB#!i=2234679566&k=WRVddxW) David and Jan Hanson Baytown/Mont Belvieu Area Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
