Hi, all! Mary Jane Syvertsen, Pat Heirs, and myself met Marie Stewart over at Frontera early this morning where we were able to find the Golden-crowned Warbler in a feeding flock fairly quickly; upon entering the "woods" we basically kept to the left as we encountered intersections, and the flock was in an area where you could see where the trail made a bend to the right through the trees. The "tac" notes were pretty distinctive, and we also had Catbirds and Nashville Warblers in the group. Other migrants included Indigo Buntings, Wilson's, Black-and-white and Black-throated Green Warblers, and a large stream of Turkey Vultures with a few Swainson's Hawks thrown in! I was pleased to get a female Rufous Hummingbird for the year. About the only photos I got were of butterflies, which were out the yin yang, especially Mestras and Snouts! I shot a couple that I wouldn't mind some feedback on. http://miriameaglemon.com/photo_gallery/2013%20Field%20Trips/October/Fronter a%20Audubon%20Thicket.html If the link breaks, go to the main page (below), then click on Photo Gallery, 2013 Field trips, and Frontera Audubon Thicket under October.
