Based on what we saw in the field and with this photo I will go with
Black-tailed. I got some real good looks and they are in the area.

Today while birding at LaLomita Photography Ranch in Uvalde, Tx., a group of 4
was able to photograph a Gnatcatcher that we believe to be a Black-tailed
Gnatcatcher and hoping we can get a positive ID.
