A fine morning at Laguna Atascosa. It's always a pleasure having visitors
that get really excited over our Texas birds, even simple Bobwhite and
Roadrunner.
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was the bird of the day with 25 feasting on
mosquitoes over the prairie. Chimney Swift and swallows were overhead all
morning.
Tours Thursday - Monday 8:30 - 12, Friday at 1 PM alternating between Bahia
Grande and Laguna Atascosa. Tours only continue through the end of March
and are beginning to fill up so call for reservations. 956-748-3607 X111.
In addition, another visitor had a fine afternoon at Alligator Pond
reporting Summer Tanager, Yellow-throated Vireo, Blue-headed Vireo, and
Prothonotary Warbler.
Groove-billed Ani continue along the entrance road between the refuge sign
and the first speed bump.
We also have a new "litter" of 9 baby alligators behind the Visitors
Center.
