Unbelievable rain for the birding tour to Bahia Grande this morning. Unbelieveable low total of 21 species. Had to turn around at the second bridge due to washout up in coastal prairie filled with water again. 6 intrepid birders braved the unbelievable rain with us. Only highlights were the incredible numbers of peeps in a feeding frenzy on the mudflats. The low light level and driving rain made it impossible to get any detail. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: <ebird-checklist@xxxxxxxxxxx>Date: Mon, Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 PM Subject: eBird Report - Laguna Atascosa NWR--Bahia Grande Unit, Mar 9, 2015 To: dkelly163@xxxxxxxxx Laguna Atascosa NWR--Bahia Grande Unit, Cameron, US-TX Mar 9, 2015 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Protocol: Traveling 6.0 mile(s) Comments: Hard rain non-stop, low light conditions, passerines confined to road with feathers drenched 21 species (+2 other taxa) Northern Pintail 150 Redhead 150 Northern Bobwhite 2 American White Pelican 17 Brown Pelican 2 Great Blue Heron 1 Great Egret 12 Snowy Egret 2 Tricolored Heron 1 Reddish Egret 13 Roseate Spoonbill 10 Osprey 2 Northern Harrier 1 Harris's Hawk 2 plover sp.
