I have a birding friend who called me. She said she had been having 50-100 pine siskin on her patio for well over a month. She's been watching and some will start to puff up for a day, then look weak, then they find them dead. She has seen at least 6 in the last couple of weeks. Any ideas? I asked her about her seed and she said she only bought the best, mostly the kind that's to leave a clean patio, hulled sunflower, etc. She keeps it in the frig until she uses it all. So it doesn't sound like that's the problem. Would really appreciate the wisdom of texbirds.
