Greetings All:
Yesterday I led a field trip to Lake Six and the area along the Brazos
River immediately below Lake Six.

Jim Crites and Jan Jannett attended - this is going to be the official LEAS
field trip for each month - hopefully attendance will pick up.

From 8:00 to 9:15 we explored Lake Six, picking up 50 Cackling Geese, 250
Canada Geese, 5 Gadwalls, 86 Northern Shovelers, 1 Ring-necked Duck, 8
Buffleheads, 56 Pied-billed Grebes, 1 EARED GREBE, 5 Great Blue Herons, 4
Black-crowned Night Herons, 28 American Coots, 33 Ring-billed Gulls, 2
Herring Gulls (1 third cycle, 1 adult), 1 Eurasian Collared Dove, 4
Mourning Doves, 2 Belted Kingfishers, 1 Northern Flicker, 452 Red-winged
Blackbirds, 1 female YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, 29 Great-tailed Grackles, and
12 Black-tailed Prairie Dogs.

From 9:15 to 9:45 we checked out the riparian corridor just below the lake,
spotting 2 Gadwalls, 8 Mallards, 4 Northern Shovelers, 8 American Coots, 3
Eurasian Collared Doves, 1 Mourning Dove, 1 WINTER WREN, 1 European
Starling, and 6 Red-winged Blackbirds.

On my own I wandered on up the river to MacKenzie Park, noting the
continuing COMMON MERGANSER and at least 2 WILSON's SNIPE.
