TexBirders,
I spent the weekend racing around Navarro and Freestone counties on two very
windy days. I didn’t turn up anything unexpected (maybe Western Sandpipers at
Richland Creek WMA North?) but I did manage to encounter a couple of nice Rusty
Blackbirds in Fairfield Lake SP. They were in willows at the water’s edge
where the “Birdwatching Trail” on the E side of the lake goes down to the lake
margin under an old wire grape arbor. Photos will be uploaded with my eBird
checklist later. Eastern Towhees were in evidence here and there, even singing
in the woods at the gate for the South Unit of Richland Creek WMA (which is
closed by the way).
