I can't speak to the specific reasons in this case but I just want to chime in to remind people that while it's nice to share sightings, if the observer feels that it would be to the detriment of the bird or the location in which it was found to send many many birders after it, they have no obligation to disclose the location. My best advice would be, everyone just get out and look, who knows what else might turn up, no pun intended.
