After 3 days of searching, we were happy to finally see the Common Crane this morning at about 8:45 a.m. Justin Bosler was with us at the time. From the intersection of FM 1731 and 298, go north on 1731 about 1 mile until you see a large pond on the right (east). "Strings" of cranes often fly east to west over the pond as they head for the milo field on the west side of the road, where many have been feeding of late. Some early mornings large numbers of cranes often congregate right in the pond. This morning we spotted the Common Crane flying west over the pond area, with flocks of Sandhills also flying past. We got identifiable flight shots. Alan Wormington Jeremy M.
