Other than one individual at Post Park within the last month or so,
and 2-3 in the middle of town around the same time... we have 0 Cliff
Swallows nesting in Marathon this summer (that we have observed, at
least). We have ample, successful nests of Barn and Cave Swallows
which is a welcome relief from last year. So who has all of the Cliff
Swallows? Just curious! I know central Texas was hogging all of our
Cassin's Sparrows last year, thankfully they're back on territory this
year, but not nearly as abundant as year before last when every
creosote bush had a singing male. Other passerine numbers are back
pretty much where they should be, though our local Black Phoebes are
staying a bit south of Post Park.

Curious.

Happy trails,
-h
