I am always happy to hear about large roosts of Chimney Swifts so I drove
to Harlingen when I heard of one there with several hundred birds. It was
a neat spectacle to watch them come into the area around this large
chimney, circling and chittering until they dive into the roost. It took a
full 25 minutes for the large population to enter the roost with what
looked like waves of birds coming in and joining those already circling. I
got a short video clip, less than seconds, that gives an idea of this
spectacle that I have uploaded to my Birds and Nature blog
<http://birdsandnature.blogspot.com/>.
After a good rain the night before Frontera Audubon in Weslaco had a number
of new birds come in including a Black-billed Cuckoo and a Philadelphia
Vireo whose photos I have also uploaded to my blog.
I had some neat warblers at South Padre Island over the week-end but
haven't had time to process those pics yet.
