TexBirders,
A male Tropical Parula is still present at the King Ranch Visitor Center on the
west side of Kingsville in Kleberg County. This bird first showed up last
Wednesday but I assumed it would be a one day wonder given the limited habitat
and overall location.
It continues to sing vigorously, but at times with an unusual song version.
While this species is a regular nester on the Norias division of King Ranch
(Kenedy Co.), despite 25 years of birding on King Ranch this is the first time
I have I had it on the Santa Gertrudis division and in Kleberg Co.
I had posted it on the TexBirds Facebook site when it first appeared but had
forgotten to post it on the regular TexBirds list-serv, my apologies.
Good birding,
Tom Langschied
Kingsville, TX
