Hi all - About 9:10 am this morning I received a phone call from Dane Ferrell (chief hawk counter at Hazel Bazemore Cty. Park) that he and Kevin Georg had just found a Black Phoebe at the eastern end of the park, right on the Nueces River. At 9:30 Joel Simon and I relocated the bird in the County Water Authority property adjacent to the east end of the park. I posted a photo of it on the TexBirds FaceBook page. It was at the river, and flew up to perch on posts next to the pumphouse. It then flew around the building and presumably up the hillside. Dane later said that it did the same thing when they found it, so hopefully it has a little routine established. We waited around for about 15 minutes, but it had not returned by the time we left. Last week Dane saw a Say's Phoebe in the park - anybody wanna Phoebe Slam?
