Based on the photo of it standing on the beach, I think your bird is FAR too
large and bulky for a Heermann's Gull - they are more reminiscent of a Laughing
Gull in overall size and silhouette.
Justin's comments sound reasonable as to Herring / Iceland, but I would like to
see more photos before I venture a guess.
