Yesterday we had a good bird count with 69 species. Probably the biggest
surprise of the day was a high count of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and
Pied-billed Grebes. There were also more Blue-winged Teal than normal as well.
You
will notice we did find the White-winged Scoter off of the Scott's Bay
Overlook and it moved quickly down towards Wooster Point. The Clay-colored
Sparrow was still around the butterfly garden as well. We did not find any
Eastern Towhees this month although there were two there last Monday. I would
like to thank Dwayne, Chuck, Lana, Marilyn, and Bob for coming out and joining
me. One thing to keep in mind if you are coming out there have been quite
a few gnats on calm days and a few mosquitos are beginning to show up.

Today I was out for a Master Naturalist training class and while the Nature
Center naturalist was giving a opening on the park an adult Bald Eagle
flew by right on que.
