Does anyone have a well-documented Barred Owl for Galveston Island? There are
six records in E-bird but they may not be valid. The birds could have been
entered for the location but seen on the mainland in Galveston County or simply
could have been assumed to be Barred Owls by the observer and since e-bird did
not challenge the observation they considered it a logical possibility for a
big owl. Barred Owls are very common in some sections of Galveston County on
the mainland but a record for the island is extraordinary. I would be very
interested in hearing from anyone that has seen them on the island.
