The past several days at Armand Bayou Nature Center south of Houston, TX has been spectacular. Typically this area misses out on the fallouts because we are too far from the coast for those that land right away and too close to the coast for those that fly over on south winds. This kind of front with heavy North winds and/or rains is what it takes to drop them out in the Clear Lake area and we got that this past week! With three visits occuring on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday we found 20 species of warblers, though only in ones and twos as well as vireos, thrushes, tanagers, grosbeaks, buntings, and orioles. Here is a list of the migrants. I have not included most of the more common birds. (h/o) = heard only.
