11-16-12 YELLOW-THROATED VIREO @ Warbler Woods Bird Sanctuary "Nov. 16, 2012 I observed a yellow-throated vireo (male) in the mobbing crowd of a hawk at 12 noon today at warbler woods,at Warbler Pond, he was calling loudly/ scolding and I saw him making the sound,,unable to get photo. Bird was about overhead. The legs had purplish hue, throat bright yellow w white belly, heavy vireo bill . I'm used to them here and I lived in Cayman Islands and they wintered there. Nancy Norman," Amazing find! Several hours later, Don refound the bird and Nancy and her two friends saw it too. Lovely male and he is vocalizing. I was called and after a short time, I also saw the bird in the sun and heard it. Absolutely no doubt on ID from any of the 5 people that saw it several different times. Sadly, no pictures, although I have great pictures of the leaves! Open Gate tomorrow. Please sign in and leave a list of what you find before you leave.
