If you're not opposed to Dell laptops, then I can recommend the Inspiron
500M. They're Pentium-M based, so they're quicker than P4m and the =
battery
lasts forever.

Recently sold a Latitude D800 to a customer, and he complained that the
battery life was poor. Having never used a laptop before, he thought 7
hours of battery life was bad. This was a D800 with 1.6GHz Pentium-M, =
the
1920x1600 widescreen, using the wireless networking.

The 500M in base spec (1.4GHz, 512Mb RAM, 40Gb HDD) comes in at =
=A3898+VAT
(=A31112.83). It looks ideal for her needs, though I'd spec the =
Stoptrack
anti-theft device which I'm getting on all Dell laptops, PCs and =
servers.
It's a good option if the laptop is likely to be nicked (which I'm sorry =
to
say is probably quite high).

Details of Stoptrack at www.stoptrack.com
(http://www.stoptrack.com/scripts/index.php?lng=3Deng&id=3Dtatouage is
particularly interesting).

If you don't like Dell, PCWorld (god help us) are doing a neat Advent =
laptop
with a Mobile XP2500+, 512Mb, 60Gb and 15" TFT for =A31098.98. It's the
Advent 7038. One of the contractors who works with us doing some
development work, has one and it's pretty good considering how much he =
paid
for it.

Hope this helps in some way.

Andrew
